Growing up in a Christian home, I would regularly attend Bible studies, conferences, and retreats, as well as read and study the Bible and Christian literature on my own. By the time I was in college, I had accumulated quite a bit of biblical knowledge; yet I realized that much of my knowledge about Christ had not been converted to reality in my daily life. According to John 5:39-40, it is possible to search the Scriptures for biblical knowledge yet not come to Christ Himself. It was with the desire to have my knowledge converted to experience that I came to the Full-Time Training in Anaheim in August 2000.

In the Training, I have been encouraged by the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee to pursue truth rather than just doctrine. Doctrine is mere empty knowledge, the “letter” that kills (2 Corinthians 3:6). On the other hand, the Greek word for “truth” (aletheia) can also be translated “reality.” Being in the Training has increased my hunger for the word of God, not just in the way of searching the Scriptures but in the way of coming to Christ.
